I am going on my sixth year as a member of Girl Scouts, and am currently a Senior Scout. I have been leader, treasurer, and recreational director within my troop. During this time I have earned the Silver Award, Cadet and Senior Leadership Awards, Cadet and Senior Challenges, Career Exploration pin, and other miscellaneous badges. I am working toward the highest award available to Girl Scouts-the Girl Scout Gold Award. I have been a  member of the International Club since my froshman year. My family and I hosted a foreign exchange student, Kotoko, from Japan. I have been in FBLA since my sophomore year. Sophomore year I attained the position of reporter. I attended a workshop on ethical decision making as a representative of this group. Junior year I  attended the National Fall Leadership Conference in Cincinnati. I have been a member of Art Club since my sophomore year.  I participated in a mural contest for North Kansas City Hospital and the group won first prize-$1500. The Academic Bowl season was a learning experience and lots of fun.   I was on the varsity team.  I played volleyball my junior year.  I am a member of science club. In the school science fair, I placed first in Environmental Chemestry, and second in the fair. I served as secretary of the junior class. I have been elected as secretary of Future Teachers.

In the past I have also been active in Science Olympiad, National Junior Honor Society, Academic Testing of Middle Schools (A.T.O.M.S.), track, and soccer. I was a chief member of Science Olympiad for two years.   Junior year I helped to coach the Middle School team.  The first year, Hersch Norman and I won third place at the regional competition in the event What Are You Trying to Tell Me?. Froshman year, the entire team got to compete at the state competition after placing fourth at regional competition. I was elected a member of NJHS at the end of my sixth grade year, and was a member for my middle school career. In eighth grade, ten selected students competed for the school on the A.T.O.M.S. team. In both seventh and eighth grade, I ran long distance in track-800 meters and 1600 meters. In the spring of my eighth and ninth grade years, I played soccer.

During fifth grade I was a member of the safety patrol and a DARE graduate. Sixth grade I was the student of the month. In seventh grade I participated in the Duke University Talent Search. In seventh and eighth grade I won first place in the school science fair. I have received two academic letters. I received awards for being the top student in Civics, Geometry, and French-also for excellence of the spoken language my freshman year. I received in addition to the preceding the Freshman Scholarship award. My sophomore year I received a letter in FBLA, an award for geography and French. I also received the Sophomore Scholarship award.

I have visited several places. I went to Washington D.C. in seventh grade. With Girl Scouts, I went to New Orleans and the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, Kansas. My family took a trip to Germany and Switzerland when my dad had to work there. I have visited both Mexico (for about 10 minutes) and Canada. I will be going on a school trip to Europe this summer.   I hope to see the total solar eclipse in Stuttgart, Germany.

I would like to attend a four-year university studying photography.  I am also interested in teaching and the field of education of college level students.  One of the things that I want to do in my lifetime is to visit Antarctica. I don’t have a real reason, I just think it would be cool. (No pun intended.)
